Call to Prayer Communion Offering: Sound
Foundations: Sound Mission
A Call to Prayer and Self-Denial is an annual observance encouraging United Methodist Women to grow and reach out in mission. Members reflect on the gospel of Christ and make an offering to a specific mission from their abundance and sacrifice in response to the needs of women, children and youth around the world.
The communion offering on Sunday morning, May 4, will be designated to help fund Methodist mission ministries in the United States and abroad. Our UMW Call to Prayer and Self Denial theme for 2014 is Sound Foundations: Sound Mission. The offering received this year will go directly toward renovating, expanding and greening the buildings/institutions founded by United Methodist Women and their forebearers more than 100 years ago. These buildings/institutions include community centers, domestic violence and homeless shelters, and children’s homes, schools, colleges and universities. Sound foundations means that we are making sure that our national mission institutions are safe spaces for grace for those we serve now and in the future. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE OFFERING GOES DIRECTLY TO MISSION.
Last year our church donated a generous $582 to this worldwide mission project. The Crawford Street UMW thanks you for your continued generous support in this worthwhile effort.
Women's Circles: Women of all ages meet monthly at varying times in Groups or Circles for Christian fellowship, mission education, spiritual growth, and social action with a focus on the needs of women, youth, and children.
