SOS was fantastic! A lot of work was done, a lot of good was accomplished, and a lot of relationships happened in a lot of neat ways. It was my privilege to work Monday - Friday of last week with the team on Dabney Street, one of the six home sites adopted for renovation/repair by SOS this year. I was so proud to be a part, and so very proud of our young people. I saw an exceptional level of maturity in this year’s group of youth. They worked hard, and you didn’t see much sitting down or complaining about the heat (which was sweltering!). Thanks be to God for this good work, and the opportunity to participate in it.

We have a new District Superintendent
Many of you realize that the United Methodist Church in Mississippi is divided into 11 geographic districts, and that Crawford Street is in the West Jackson District. Rev. Henderson Rasberry completed his six-year term as superintendent just before his death on June 2nd. Anticipating the conclusion of Rev. Rasberry’s term, Bishop Swanson had already appointed and named Rev. Dr. Stephen Cook as the new District Superintendent of the West Jackson District, to begin after annual conference. Dr. Cook is familiar with our district, having most recently served as pastor of Central United Methodist Church in Jackson. Stephen and his wife, Erma, have two daughters. We welcome his leadership, and pray for him as he begins his new role.

UMW NEWS
(Linda Turner, President)
THANK YOU, CRAWFORD STREET!! The theme for the 2015 Call to Prayer and Self-Denial was "A Gesture of Gratitude." The 2015 offering totaled $675.00! Your continued support of this offering is so deeply appreciated. These generous gifts will help provide retirement benefits to missionaries and deaconesses. We are thankful for our sisters and brothers who have served faithfully all their lives, and for the path that these women and men opened for us during their time of service to the United Methodist Women, and the world.
Thank you for your "gesture of gratitude."
