What To Expect
FAQs
What should I wear?
Whatever you feel comfortable in. From the start, we want you to know that CSUMC cares about what you are on the inside, not what you look like on the outside. Persons dress from very casual to coat/tie, with the greater percentage being in between with business casual. So, wear what you feel comfortable in, as we want you to be happy, welcomed, and right at home.
Where do I park?
We are fortunate to have ample parking spaces in our Crawford Street lot for those who attend. We also have parking along Crawford Street and Cherry Street right in front of our sanctuary steps. Also, there are handicapped parking spaces in our parking lot, close to our entrances. Please use the pedestrian crosswalk when crossing Crawford Street from the lot to the church.
Where do I go once I am inside?
Most people enter the church using the glass doors of Wesley Hall on Crawford Street between 9:45 and 10:45am. Then the front doors leading to the sanctuary open at 10:30am. Whatever entrance you choose, our greeters and ushers will be happy to help you find your way and answer any questions. There are signs directing you to all areas of our church; the Nursery, Sunday School Classes, Floral Hall (our Fellowship Hall), the Church Office Suite as well as the sanctuary for traditional worship. We also have a very warm church family that will gladly offer you assistance.
Will I be asked to identify myself as a visitor?
No, certainly not. You will not be asked to introduce yourself, wear a special nametag, or anything else that might embarrass you. We do, however, want you to know that we will be ready to connect when you are. All persons are asked to sign in, and if you desire us to contact you, you can inform us on the sign-in pew pad.
What should I do with my children?
Your children are welcome and encouraged to attend worship with you. If you would prefer your infant or toddler to be lovingly cared for in the nursery, you should plan to check them in a few minutes before Worship begins. Our nursery is located right next to the sanctuary. You will find signs pointing you in the right direction. Children ages 3 thru 5 years are invited to Children’s Church during our Worship Service. These children are escorted out of the service by an adult and led to Children’s Church. You may pick them up after the service in the Children’s Church Room located just past the nursery. Our Nursery is always open for every Worship Service.
What can I expect during a worship service?
• First, the focus is going to be on God, so do not think you will be embarrassed or pressured to give money or to join the church. Therefore, relax and focus on experiencing worship.
• We will be singing songs from the hymnal provided to express our love to God, and you can sing as a means of worship to God from your heart. Our Chancel Choir is present for our 10:55 a.m. worship.
• You may also see Christian sacraments such as baptism (infant or adult) or communion (regularly on first Sunday).
• Our pastor will share a biblically based message.
• Our services usually last about one hour.

Are you going to ask me for money when I attend?
We do take an offering during each worship service, but as our guest your presence is your gift to us. If you choose to give an offering, we thank you for your blessing to God’s work through the ministry of our church.
What do you offer for children and teens during Sunday School?
Infants – 2 year olds: Childcare in the nursery is offered during the Sunday School hour and during Worship services.
Preschool (ages 3&4) – 6th grade: Sunday morning classes start at 9:45 a.m., please drop off your children at the class and then pick them up afterward. A detailed list of Sunday School classes is listed under Sunday School on this site.
